Anti-tumor effect of biopreparations

We have stated repeatedly the positive effect of stem cells suspension application in oncological patients. This revealed both in decrease of tumor size or resorption of small metastases, and in rapid restoration of a full value hemopoiesis, and improvement of general status.

No doubts, stem cells presence in the preparation directly or indirectly effects the development of cancer cells. Mechanism of action is linked with the ability of stem cells to migrate to “target” organs, to effect them. It is also connected with the presence of alpha-fetoprotein in preparations, that switches on apoptosis mechanisms in cancer cells. Other cell factors of immune protection are also working (increase of phagocyte and T-lymphocyte activity and others).

Speech of professor Michael Andreeff at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research in Orlando, Florida, on March 27-31, 2004 was the remarkable demonstration of our observations. He and his colleagues were the first to apply mesenchymal stem cells as a carrier of immune protein alpha-fetoprotein, which helped to destroy cancer cells. Experiments on mice have shown the DNA-modified mesenchymal stem cells delayed development of several types of leukemia, melanoma (skin cancer), lung cancer, and breast cancer.

The most important discovery, according to the words of professor M.Andreeff, is in the fact, that these gene-modified cells could migrate to tumors and produce anti-tumor substances there. It was revealed that tumors, like injured tissues, send a signal attracting stem cells.

It is necessary to remember constantly about stem cells suspension effect on the whole organism. Normalization of anti-tumor immunity and rapid (up to 7-14 days) restoration of blood cells after traditional chemotherapy provide patient with a possibility to improve quality of life and give doctor a chance to raise the chemopreparations dose and to increase probability of recovery.

We want to underline that our long-term experience allows drawing a simple conclusion about complex treatment of oncological diseases: classic therapy and cellular therapy with application of stem cells suspension – this is that missing link that was absent in the practice of traditional patients’ treatment and rehabilitation.
