Clinical Diagnostics Laboratory. Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory

Laboratory diagnostics in modern medicine is the most important part of both diagnostic process and prophylactic program. Rapid development of applied science and medical technologies put into doctors’ hands the powerful instrument, which allows detecting organism’s disorders in shortest terms, forecasting clinical course variants, selecting appropriate therapy and accessing treatment efficiency. This is a laboratory analysis.

Nowadays there is a big spectrum of both specialized and multitype laboratories, mostly, independent, on the medical market.

For the patient, especially in conditions of such megapolis as Kiev, practically every analysis is available, up to absolutely new tests. The tests, which yesterday were only of science interest.

However, one should not forget, that the result of the laboratory test is not yet the diagnosis, its competent interpretation by specialist is necessary together with clinical symptoms and data from other types of examination (ultrasound, instrumental, x-ray) for proper assessment of your body condition.

Only understanding of the clinical applications’ peculiarities of the laboratory methods, close collaboration of the clinicians and laboratory specialists up to join solution of specific medical problems, make laboratory examination the important part of qualitative diagnostics. That is why many medical centers are striving for establishing their own laboratories.

There is a Clinical Diagnostics Laboratory, equipped with modern analyzers and optic technique of the known European producers (Human, ZEISS, Germany; MELET SCHLOESING LAB., France and others) in the structure of the Institute of Cellular Therapy.

Laboratory holds the certificate of attestation by Ukrmetrteststandard № PT-0261 dated 20.08.02. Only imported reagents and materials, registered and approved for application in Ukraine, are used. Tests range is extending permanently.

Our laboratory participates in international inter-laboratory quality control Riqas, which additionally assure obtaining of high-quality tests results.

Test material sampling is taken practically “on the doorstep” that allows to escape many problems and mistakes, connected with transportation of blood samples and other biological fluids and with prolonged storage. In 5 minutes after sampling from vein, the blood already goes into work. That is an imperative moment in detection of many biochemical and immunological parameters.

Biochemical analyzers, installed at the laboratory, allow conducting simultaneously 60 patients’ samples for more than 30 biochemical methods. In 1-2 working days you can receive information about liver and kidney state, blood clotting system, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, level of cholesterol and other lipids, blood electrolytes and microelements, to learn about factors of cardio-vascular risk and also to have complex biochemical blood analysis. All methods used in clinical-diagnostic laboratory are unified and approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Serological division of the laboratory, that is equipped with immuno-enzyme automated system, secures diagnostics in the following directions: thyroid and sex hormones (male and female), panel of oncological risk, and also a variety of other research.

Clinical Division of the Laboratory carries out a broad spectrum of general clinical and cytomorphological analyses.

General blood test is done on automated analyzer, it determines 15 parameters, including leukocytes differentiation into granulocytes, medium cells and lymphocytes.

General urine test includes measuring of 11 biochemical markers on the automated analyzer Combilyzer and also microscopic examination of urine sediment. Also urine is tested by Zimnitsly and Nechyporenko methods.

Ejaculate examination (spermogram) is conducted strictly within WHO recommendations; carefully elaborated patients’ preparation exclude obtaining of non-informative results.

All microscopic (cytological, hematological, bacterioscopic) examinations are carried out with application of microscope Axiostar plus, produced by well-known optic producer Karl Zeiss.

Laboratory has the capacities of documentary proof of the microscopic examinations’ results. Digital camera Canon PowerShot A620 gives the possibility to obtain high-quality images of micropreparations. The microphotographs obtained should demonstrate directly the alterations of cell state (including spermatozoids) at the process of some forms of male infertility treatment and inflammatory processes in male and female urogenital sphere.

1. We use only disposable glassware in our laboratory that excludes samples contamination with different chemical and biological admixtures and prevents uncontrolled misrepresentation of the result. Efficiently arranged quality control within the lab, high qualification of the specialists, careful elaboration of preparation stage together with clinicians, record-keeping and archiving of the information secure reliability and credibility of the results to be obtained.

In contrast to “gigantic laboratories”, that operate in intensive regime with enormous amount of anonymous material, individual approach is put into practice in our laboratory, that makes it possible to assess all the peculiarities of test processing, method operation (equipment, reagents), and to track the dynamics of different patient’s analyses. Close contacts with clinical doctors allow to prevent the mistakes, that are connected with patient’s preparation to the analysis, time and method of sampling of the material, effect of the different medications, administered to the patient at time of analysis. Every analysis in our laboratory is practically exclusive, that gives the additional possibility to laboratory doctor to ensure the quality of his/her product – the result of laboratory analysis.
