Molecular diagnosis lab

Main direction of the activity of Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory of the Institute of Cellular Therapy is testing of different clinical materials for detection of DNA (RNA) of the following virulent diseases germs:

• Hepatitis B, C, D, G.,
• Herpes group (CMV, herpetic fever viruses of 1 and 2 types, Epstein-Barr virus),
• Genital infections (chlamydial infection, urea-mycoplasmosis),
• Treponema Pallidum (syphilis),
• Toxoplasmosis.

Analyses are taken with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. This method has its own advantages in the present-day lab diagnosis:

• it helps run direct detection of the germ gene;
• high specificity (99-100%) of the method is based on the fact that unique fragment of nucleic acid NA (specific sequence), which is typical only for this germ or gene, is determined in the material under review;
• high sensitivity (100-1000 copy/ml), ability to conduct not only qualitative (availability), but also quantitative (concentration) evaluation of the NA content;
• fast results (within one work day);
• ability to diagnose not only acute type, but also latent form of disease;
• ability to simultaneously diagnose several germs in one probe;
• ability to research miscellaneous material.

Molecular genetic analysis in the lab is made with high-quality diagnosis test-systems and kits, as well as stat-of-art equipment by well-known world producers. Special attention should be paid to Rotor-Gene 6000 device. Its operation is based on the new technology – real time PCR, which includes simultaneous process of amplification and hybridization-fluorescent detection in “real time mode”. Its principal feature is monitoring and quantitative analysis of PCR products accumulation in one test tube, automatic registration and interpretation of the results received.

Therefore, application of state-of-art high-tech equipment and test-systems from world producers, as well as computerization of the technological process, highly-qualified team, regular control over quality of research ensure high accuracy and reliability of lab analysis results.
