ICT scientists start joint research with the Czech Republic

The scientific experience and technical capacities of the Institute of Cell Therapy enable to conduct molecular investigations, available to far not all research centers of the Western Europe. This is confirmed by the interest of foreign colleagues in the methods developed by our scientists, as well as to the internships on the basis of the Institute of Cell Therapy.

August 1-2, 2018 in Prague (Czech Republic), a scientific meeting of representatives of the research laboratory of the Institute of Cell Therapy and the staff of the Laboratory of Viral and Cellular Genetics of the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic (ASCR), known worldwide for the achievements in the field of gene research. Scientists discussed the evaluation of the role of certain genes in mesenchymal stem cells on different biological models.

On the first day of the meeting, the deputy director of the Cryobank of the Institute of Cellular Therapy Dr. Vladimir Shablii, PhD presented a report for the colleagues from the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in which he summarized the unpublished results of the Institute of Cell Therapy on the methylation pattern of the ervw1 gene in clones of placenta stem cells (regulation of ervw1 gene expression). The achievements of the Institute of Cell Therapy in the field of gene and cell technologies aroused great interest among Czech colleagues, and the parties agreed to conduct joint research to deepen the already obtained results by means of the additional experiments. Partners from the institution of the Czech Academy of Sciences also provided unique reagents to the Institute of Cell Therapy to explore the regulation of the ervw1 gene on the mRNA level.

The second day of the working meeting was devoted to the creation of a model for the development of placenta stem cells on the other objects (in vivo). This summer, researchers of the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences will take a course „Whole mount in situ hybridization“ at the Institute of Cell Therapy. And in the autumn of 2018, the Laboratory of Viral and Cellular Genetics will host scientists from the Institute of Cell Therapy in Prague for joint research.

Integration of the scientists from the Institute of Cell Therapy (Ukraine) and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic will allow to conduct socially important research at a higher level and to obtain results, significant for the world science and practical health care.
